We may tend to think of gift baskets as something for an adult, but it seems to me they could be perfect for a child also. My thought would be to make them up with one central gift, something that was chosen with the recipient specifically in mind and then have a lot of other small gifts that would compliment the larger gift.

For instance, if the basket is for a little girl who loves Barbies, the central gift might be a Barbie doll, or some Barbie item that it is known that the child wants and then the smaller gifts all be Barbie related, outfits, computer games or software to do with Barbie, Barbie notepaper etc.

The same sort of thing for a little boy. Perhaps he really likes a particular character on a television program, such as Sesame Street. The central gift might be a stuffed version of that character and the complimentary gifts be books and note paper and little items that have to do with that character.

An added bonus might be for the gifts in the baskets for the children to be individually wrapped, so that the recipients could have the added enjoyment of unwrapping them.

If the gift basket is being made for a child in a hospital, it might be good to see to it that as well as activity books that can be enjoyed in the hospital, a supply of pencils and a couple of pencil sharpeners are included also.

Gift baskets can be as much appreciated as a gift by a child as they can be by an adult, if the gift basket is made specifically for a child and even more importantly, for a specific child. Love and ingenuity and careful thought are the main ingredients here and can end up in the creation of a gift that will be greatly enjoyed and appreciated and long remembered.
